Okay so I wrote the narrative while the photos were uploading and now it is stuck at the bottom of the photos. Damn formatting!!!!
There were heaps of fish groups like this kinda at the surface you almost felt like you were swimming with them - of course they were a lot faster than me - I was more whale like (I especially looked like one in my wetsuit).
This fish is very friendly, they like to come up and you can get your photo taken with him. Apparently they start off as one gender and then change to another. Anyway they are blue and yellow and look pretty cool.

I saw two of these swimming. They were very still and did not move much becoming a bit of a reference for where I was in the sea. (I kept getting lost and distracted by cool fish, especially when I was taking photos).

This is a promo shot of the boat and the sea and sky were a lot greyer on the day so you could not really see the definition of the reefs like you can here.

Here is Damian under the sea.

So we have been back almost a week and to say Dunedin is cold is an understatement. We were both rather tired after the long trip back on Monday so the week felt rather long and we were glad to see the weekend, although Damian had to work on Saturday which meant a one day weekend for him. Anyway I hope to sort thru my photos this week and aim to post more extensive blogs of what we saw and did. This post is made up of the photos taken by the Calypso photographer. He had an underwater camera and naturally more skill than I at taking photos (I hope to get my underwater photos developed this week). I love the one of Damian under the water it is so cool. The Calypso tour was great, the folk on board were friendly, helpful and supportive. The food was great (they had an OMG fudge cake which I think I ate about 6 slices of - I needed extra energy for all the swimming I was doing tee hee). We had a hour boat trip out on slightly choppy sea and then we stopped at three different spots for about an hour. We basically pottered about at our own leisure. Thank god for the noddle I say! I am not a strong swimmer and this noddle thing meant I could float on the surface and not worry about drowning. The current was kinda strong (well for me it was). So you kinda swam up against it and then floated back over the reef to the boat then repeat in a different direction. As metioned I am not much of a swimmer and while I wondered about the Great Barrier Reef I never really thought it was something that I would do so it was pretty awesome that we were able to tagalong and get a chance to experience the wonder and beauty of this place. It is truly amazing
